Edouard Limonov alias Eddie, fut un personnage aux multiples facettes. \u00c9crivain russe \u00e0 succ\u00e8s. il ne sait \u00e9crire que sur lui-m\u00eame, dit-il. Sa vie est forc\u00e9ment dans l\u2019exc\u00e8s. Ses aventures amoureuses avec le mannequin Elena en sont le reflet, passionn\u00e9es, violentes, extr\u00eames. Il quitte Moscou avec sa compagne pour New York. Elle le trompe. Il la quitte. Eddie se marginalise, tente d\u2019autres exp\u00e9riences sexuelles. Eddie rentre ensuite dans une phase plus rang\u00e9e, comme majordome au service d\u2019un riche bourgeois, toujours en qu\u00eate d\u2019\u00e9diteur pour ses ouvrages. Il affirme haut et fort son amour pour la r\u00e9volution et la grande Russie, se revendique agitateur politique et met les paroles en actes lors de son retour au pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Difficile de trouver aimable un personnage aussi fantasque aux r\u00e9pliques cassantes. Le biopic est aussi atypique que le personnage qu\u2019il porte \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran, il vaut mieux savoir ce qu\u2019on va voir. Kirill Serebrennikov n\u2019a pas toujours eu la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction des autorit\u00e9s russes pour voyager \u00e0 Cannes et soutenir ses films pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents. Le r\u00f4le sp\u00e9cial jou\u00e9 par Limonov dans l\u2019histoire r\u00e9cente de la Russie pourrait expliquer pourquoi il a re\u00e7u un meilleur accueil cette fois. Eddie est mort 2 ans avant le d\u00e9clenchement de la guerre en Ukraine. Ce long m\u00e9trage n\u2019est certainement pas le plus consensuel de la s\u00e9lection 2024 mais reste un tr\u00e8s bon moment de cin\u00e9ma, que le jury peut avoir envie d\u2019honorer pour un prix d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation pour Ben Whishaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
