Philip, r\u00e9alisateur de films, est en d\u00e9pression apr\u00e8s un burn-out. Pour l\u2019aider \u00e0 surmonter cette p\u00e9riode difficile, Lucy accepte de mettre en pause ses ambitions d\u2019artiste et d\u00e9m\u00e9nage avec lui et leur fils \u00e0 la campagne, o\u00f9 la dynamique sociale est plus protectrice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Un matin, la police de la protection des mineurs interrompt la qui\u00e9tude du foyer. Elle est men\u00e9e par Elsa, une enqu\u00eatrice sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e qui se donne \u00e0 c\u0153ur dans son m\u00e9tier, tout en devant composer avec la maladie d\u2019Alzheimer de son p\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Le monde de Lucy s\u2019effondre. Les soup\u00e7ons de possession d\u2019images prohib\u00e9es qui p\u00e8sent sur l\u2019homme qu\u2019elle aime \u00e9branlent le foyer. L\u2019enqu\u00eate de police avance, sans qu\u2019Elsa en soit pleinement inform\u00e9e. Mais ce qui transpara\u00eet interroge toutes les certitudes de Lucy, en particulier sur ce qui aurait pu affecter leur fils, Jimmy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La force de Gentle Monster<\/em> r\u00e9side dans son traitement de la p\u00e9docriminalit\u00e9 en ligne par des gens ordinaires, prot\u00e9g\u00e9s par l\u2019anonymat des r\u00e9seaux. Cet anonymat \u00e9touffe la prise de conscience de la gravit\u00e9 des actes. C\u2019est le passage du virtuel au r\u00e9el qui constitue le cadre du film, non du point de vue de l\u2019auteur, mais de celui des proches. Marie Kreutzer traite son sujet sans manich\u00e9isme avec une remarque sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 qui en accro\u00eet la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9.
