Des ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s le g\u00e9nocide de 1994 contre les Tutsi, Veneranda s\u2019efforce de b\u00e2tir une existence tourn\u00e9e vers la r\u00e9conciliation et la gu\u00e9rison collective. Survivante des massacres, elle participe \u00e0 des initiatives communautaires destin\u00e9es \u00e0 apaiser les tensions ethniques encore vives dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 o\u00f9 les blessures demeurent profond\u00e9ment enfouies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lorsque sa fille adolescente tombe enceinte, l\u2019\u00e9quilibre fragile qu\u2019elle avait r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 construire se fissure. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement intime fait resurgir des traumatismes anciens et oblige Veneranda \u00e0 affronter les limites du pardon, aussi bien dans sa vie personnelle que dans une communaut\u00e9 encore hant\u00e9e par son histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Le film explore avec sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 la difficile cohabitation entre deux peuples autrefois ennemis, dans une d\u00e9marche proche d\u2019une justice restauratrice o\u00f9 la violence est davantage sugg\u00e9r\u00e9e que montr\u00e9e. \u00c0 travers diff\u00e9rents t\u00e9moignages et situations, il met en lumi\u00e8re les multiples facettes du g\u00e9nocide et les cicatrices qu\u2019il continue de laisser sur les survivants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On regrettera que Marie-Cl\u00e9mentine Dusabejambo ait c\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 quelques ficelles convenues. En particulier, le rebondissement final \u00e9tait trop pr\u00e9visible ou la naissance de enfant utilis\u00e9e comme m\u00e9taphore du renouveau n\u2019\u00e9tait pas indispensable. J\u2019ai aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9contenanc\u00e9 par les r\u00e9actions tr\u00e8s dignes mais excessivement sobres des victimes de crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
L\u2019ensemble reste port\u00e9 par une approche sensible et profond\u00e9ment humaine. Le film demeure un t\u00e9moignage \u00e9mouvant et n\u00e9cessaire sur un g\u00e9nocide encore trop peu document\u00e9 dans les r\u00e9cits historiques et cin\u00e9matographiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
