Dans une ville isol\u00e9e du nord-ouest iranien, Vahid, m\u00e9canicien taiseux marqu\u00e9 par le souvenir de la prison, m\u00e8ne une existence effac\u00e9e. Un jour, un client franchit la porte de son garage. Une d\u00e9marche boiteuse, un regard furtif \u2014 et les fant\u00f4mes du pass\u00e9 s\u2019invitent. Persuad\u00e9 de reconna\u00eetre en Eghbal l\u2019un de ses anciens tortionnaires, Vahid bascule dans une qu\u00eate implacable de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 et de vengeance. Il le kidnappe, bien d\u00e9cid\u00e9 \u00e0 le confronter\u2026 et \u00e0 le punir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mais au fil du trajet \u00e0 travers un Iran d\u00e9sertique, ses certitudes s\u2019effondrent. Et si cet homme n\u2019\u00e9tait pas celui qu\u2019il croit ? Pour lever le doute, il doit retrouver d\u2019anciens cod\u00e9tenus. Ce voyage devient alors un huis clos tendu, o\u00f9 les r\u00f4les de victime et de bourreau peuvent vaciller et s\u2019inverser \u00e0 chaque nouvelle s\u00e9quence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En d\u00e9pit des restrictions et des menaces qui p\u00e8sent sur lui, Jafar Panahi signe ici un acte de courage politique en livrant une critique percutante des d\u00e9rives du r\u00e9gime iranien, de sa r\u00e9pression envers les dissidents et de la violence de ses institutions \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de ceux qui contreviennent aux normes officielles. Loin du minimalisme classique du cin\u00e9ma iranien, Un simple accident<\/em> excelle \u00e0 d\u00e9ployer une tension dramatique, qui d\u00e9range autant qu\u2019elle secoue le spectateur.
