Ils partagent une passion commune pour les chansons populaires. Leur amour naissant est brutalement interrompu par la guerre, qui emporte David sur le champ de bataille en Europe. Dix ans plus tard, ils se retrouvent pour un hiver, parcourant les for\u00eats et les \u00eeles du Maine, \u00e0 la recherche de chants traditionnels menac\u00e9s de disparition. Cette p\u00e9riode restera grav\u00e9e \u00e0 jamais dans le c\u0153ur de Lionel. Les ann\u00e9es qui suivent lui apportent la gloire, le succ\u00e8s et d’autres amours, au fil de ses voyages en Europe. Mais le souvenir de David le hante\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
C\u2019est la pr\u00e9servation de l\u2019h\u00e9ritage des chansons folks de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique profonde qui sert de cadre \u00e0 la romance et fait son originalit\u00e9. La mise en sc\u00e8ne est acad\u00e9mique et tr\u00e8s sage, peut-\u00eatre trop. Il ne faut pas s\u2019attendre \u00e0 des d\u00e9bordements d\u2019affection entre les deux protagonistes, juste quelques c\u00e2lins. Un surcro\u00eet de folie aurait pu bonifier cette fiction, par ailleurs plaisante \u00e0 regarder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
